Understanding Your Dental Insurance
The role of a dental provider is to help you take excellent care of your oral health which could have an impact on your overall health. Having dental insurance or a dental benefit plan can make it easier to get the dental care you need but not all dental plans are created equal. Educating yourself of the nuance of your dental insurance plan coverage will enable you to make informed decisions about your care. Dr. Salimi and her staff will always do their best to help you with this education.
Types of dental insurance:
Our practice is a non-restricted dental office. We work with almost any dental plan that allows you the freedom to choose your dentist. Most often these are the indemnity and the PPO type of insurance plans. Restricted plans sometimes referred to as HMO plans, often assign you to a dental practice and do not provide much coverage if you elect your own dental provider.
If you are not satisfied with your current dental plan, most have a period of open enrollment which allow you to make a change. Your employer's human resource (H.R.) representative or your insurance broker (if you are self-employed) can help you with that change.
